Nivi Style

Region: Andhra Pradesh (and popular across India)

Description: This is the most common style, where the saree is pleated in the front and the pallu (the loose end) is draped over the left shoulder, often left flowing freely or pinned neatly.

Bengali Style

Region: West Bengal

Description: Characterized by broad, boxy pleats and no front pleats, the pallu is wrapped around the back and draped over the right shoulder, sometimes with a key or ornament tucked into the pallu for a traditional touch.

Gujarati Style (Seedha Pallu)

Region: Gujarat, Rajasthan

Description: The pallu in this style is brought from the back and draped over the right shoulder, hanging down in front. The pleats are tucked neatly at the waist in the front.

Maharashtrian Nauvari Style

Region: Maharashtra

Description: This style uses a 9-yard saree (Nauvari), draped like a dhoti, with one leg tucked in, giving it a distinctive look. The pallu is often draped over the shoulder or wrapped around the body.

Occasion: Traditional festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi, weddings.

Coorgi Style (Kodagu)

Region: Coorg (Karnataka)

Description: The saree is wrapped with pleats at the back, and the pallu is brought under the right arm and draped over the left shoulder, secured with a brooch or pin.

Occasion: Special cultural events, weddings.

Mumtaz Style

Inspired by: Bollywood actress Mumtaz

Description: Made popular in the 1960s, this retro style involves wrapping the saree closely around the body in multiple tight pleats, creating a sleek and glamorous silhouette.

Occasion: Parties, Bollywood-themed events.
